Peach Tart

Here is our recipe for a yummy Christmas dessert, or an all-time fruity snack!

You will need

  • 1 x 500g shortcrust pastry block
  • 6 tbsp peach jam
  • 8 peaches halved and stoned
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

Preheat the oven to 190°C, 170°C fan, gas 5. Roll the pastry out to an approximate 30cm round shape, trim to neaten. Transfer to a baking sheet lined with baking parchment and chill for 30 mins while you prepare the apricots.
Place the peach jam in a medium bowl, add 1/2 tbsp warm water and mix well to loosen. Add the peaches and mix gently to coat in the jam.
Pile the peaches in the center of the pastry, leaving a 5cm border. Pull up the sides of the pastry and pleat around the peaches, use a little beaten egg to secure the pleats in place if necessary.
Brush the pastry with the remaining egg, then sprinkle over the sugar (concentrating on the pastry).

Bake for 25-30 mins until the pastry is golden and the apricots are soft. Serve warm or cold with whipped cream.

Enjoy :)

Some of our most-asked questions...

What is the Dirty Dozen?

The Dirty Dozen list is put together every year by the "Environmental Working Group" (EWG). It reveals the fruits and vegetables that are the most likely to be contaminated by pesticides. For example, a single strawberry can have as many as twenty different pesticides.

Click here to see the latest list

In Asia, we can add green leafy vegetables to the list. We have also tested on several occasions non organic bananas that were very high on nitrates (this is a fertiliser, not a pesticide, but as hazardous for humans' health when found in high quantities and when one is exposed to repeatedly).

We cannot wash or peel our way out of the problem. Washing removes some residues. Systemic pesticides are inside the produce and cannot be washed away.

At ShiokFarm, we really want every parent to be able to afford to feed their child with food that is as clean as possible. To support them, we have put the 5kg and the 7kg bags together. They focus on the Dirty Dozen produces. Note that both bags contain other organic produces to allow variety.

Can I choose what goes in my fruit & vegetables bag?

We have a wide range of bags to cater to each of our members' needs.

- Our 5 and 7kg Standard bag are good for families of different sizes and focus on the Dirty Dozen fruit and vegetables (those that contain the most pesticide residue when grown with traditional methods).

- With our 3kg Premium bag you can indulge in premium fruit and vegetables like artichoke and berries. Many of our members combine a Standard bag with a Premium bag.

- Our specialty bags include our 6kg Healthy Paleo Diet bag (no nightshade vegetables, mix of standard and premium bag), our 5kg Low Carb Keto bag (vegetable-heavy) and our Indian Cuisine bag.

- Finally, we have a 3kg Fruit bag for those of you with sweet tooth at home!

To see exactly which fruit and vegetables go into each bag, click on each bag here.

If there is a produce in your bag you really do not like, you can offer to exchange it on your WhatsApp group. Most of the time, you will find a volunteer to swap with you.

And if none of these options work for you, you can also build your own bag. To do this head to our Fruit & Vegetables section and place your order every week before Thursday noon. Your order will be delivered the following week.

Can I know in advance what will be in my bag or box?

Yes! Every Friday we post on our Facebook page the content of the following week’s fruit and vegetable bags. Ask to join our page here and send us an email to if we have not approved your application within the next 24 hours, specifying your Facebook name, if different from your real name. Note that this page is reserved to our members exclusively.

Every last week of the month, we post on the same Facebook Group what will be in the following week Wine Box.
